Agency.Me
My only question is: Was this all about the client? Or was it all about the agency?
Full disclosure: I spent six years at agency.com , though not in that office.
Update I: Coudal Partners launches their version. Tip of the hat to Scott. And a bigger tip of the hat to Coudal, who just made me laugh my ass right off of my Aeron. This is Larry David funny.
Update II: You watched the now infamous "viral video". Now you can buy the T-Shirt. Tip of the hat to Fresh Glue
Update III: Now you can watch the video while wearing your T-Shirt as you comment on the official blog. Tip of hat to Adam C.

This is pure buzz for Agency. Good on them for it; but as you allude to, I don't feel that they connected all the dots with this piece.

Coudal = brilliant!

Damnit, that was awesome.
I do love the amount of bloggers I've seen mocking the video as if it's not viral. Of course, even though they're making fun, they're still talking about it and posting it.
Isn't that kind of the definition of a viral video? Maybe it needs more Mentos and Coke, and then it will pass the test.

Paul,
I think this is viral. No doubt about it. don't know the exact number of views but it's up there and rising. I used the quotes because of how they referred to "viral video" in the making of it (before it even became viral).
And I'm not mocking it but raising a legitimate question. Who was this really intended for?
I actually think this was an interesting idea. Not a bad one by any stretch. And kudos to acom for the guts to actually do it. But something happened in the execution of the video. I felt like everyone started ACTING.

For a few minutes, I thought this was like Agency Death Match sponsored by Subway...but Coudal! Oh man, that's hilarious.
Effective for Agency.com and Subway. Coudal's piece will live longer...that's a Web Gem.

I actually wasn't even referring to you necessarily, but there have been a bunch of bloggers out there actually posting the video, discussing it, and proclaiming the video not viral, which is more than a little ironic.
And, they did some acting for sure, and the video probably wouldn't be what I would want exactly, but they mostly get points for (a)balls and (b)not doing tired crap.

To be honest, my first thought was:
This is completely reprehensible!
But now that I've read the blog:
http://whenwerollwerollbig.com
I've decided this whole story is worthy of me returning to graduate school to write a world-beating case study.
Phd here I come.

Adam C, thanks for the link to the blog.

Viral or not, the video wasn't funny. It was full of hope and enthusiasm and smiles and (especially) Agency.com. But not so full of funny. I thought the interviews that the writers did were the best parts. Editing was decent.
Now I'm going to look at the Coudal thing.

Nobody gets hired without Jared's OK.
Now that I've seen Coudal's response I feel kinda sorry for the goofy gel hair guy in the Agency.com video.
