Snapped this last weekend before the chill set in. I was quietly celebrating the good fortunes I've had lately. There is something to be said for quiet celebration—it's underrated. My wife was out of town and I had just gotten the kids to bed. We had just finished toasting Marshmallows, and when I came back down to put the fire out—I changed my mind. Instead, I grabbed a cigar—heated up a mug full of Frangelico and stared at the fire and stars until the fire put itself out, without my help. And I'm glad I took that time to reflect. Next week will be a flurry of activity between presentations, meets and greets and yes, actual work.
So when things are moving quickly—with planes and cabs and chats and meetings, I'll always have my quiet celebration on a perfect October evening to remember. And that should keep me going for the week.
