Signs You Might Have B.S.P.

Bsp

Have you ever blogged about something and then it actually happened?  Do you "sense" when something big is going to occur in the blogosphere?  If so, you might have Blogger Sensory Perception or B.S.P.

B.S.P. is a relatively new phenomenon.  Not all bloggers have it, but some "special bloggers" exhibit traits.  If you think you might be one of the few—you may want to review the following signs that you may indeed have B.S.P.

Signs You Might Have B.S.P. (Blogger Sensory Perception)

-You'll be thinking of someone and then out of the blue, they comment on your blog

-You suddenly feel compelled to comment on somebody elses blog and at the same time, they e-mail you

-You get a "feeling" right before someone has linked to your blog only to find out through Technorati that it was true

-You know what a track back post will say before even reading it

-You can sit in front of your Bloglines or aggregator and predict when a new post will update right before it does

-You think "what if blogger X wrote about this..." and shortly after—they do

-You comment on someone's else's blog only to have them comment on yours at exactly the same time

-You become anxious for no reason only to find out later that a fake blog was discovered at approximately the same time

-Non bloggers think there is something wrong with you

-Bloggers think there is something wrong with you

-You hang around dormant blogs right before a new post because you "sensed" something was going to happen.  When it does, you are the first to comment.

-You don't have to read Seth's Blog because you somehow already know what he is going to say

-You knew I was going to write about this before I did.

Coincidence?  I think not.   :)

If you already knew what this post was about even before you read it, then you might have B.S.P. On his blog Logic Emotion, David Armano explains his definition for B.S.P. (Blogger Sensory Perception). A few B.S.P. characteristics are:-You'll be thin... [Read More]

"You hang around dormant blogs right before a new post because you "sensed" something was going to happen. You are the first to comment"

Just thought I'd check things out, even though there was "no way" you'd be posting this late at night.

"You don't have to read Seth's Blog because you somehow already know what he is going to say"

That's how I'm publishing my first book! It's called Pink Sheep and it's about how, when everybody's making purple cows, you have to make, well, pink sheep. Trust me, it's genius. I'm already well on my way to a-list status! See you at the top!

I know that you know, that I knew you were going to say that.

I was in the middle of writing a mini-review of Roger von Oech's creativity books when I got an e-mail from Roger writing to introduce himself out of the blue!

At first I thought Roger's powers were even more amazing than I'd considered before, but then he reminded me that I'd put his blog in my sidebar and he'd followed the links back...

David,

Definitely! Absolutely! This happens in the bloggosphere as well as in real life. Like thinking about someone you're missing news from... then person phones you "out of the blue"

Ann's Handley's first comment on my blog, arrives on a day I talked about Marketing Profs for 2 hours with a friend.

Ann's B-day post, just 2 days after mio Bday.

Connections with Roger von Oech also... publishes a post on "company metaphors" the same day I publish one with a company metaphor.

Marketing 2.0 seminar pointing "influencers", then the next day you post the "Levels of Influence"

Wondering "When does he find time to blog?"... next day morning read : your post on "Working class blogger"

And so on, and so on...

From a personal observation, I think these "connections" happen more frequently in times we are subjectively more "receptive". Empathy is the keyword around the phenomenon (like a frequency pulse). Although I always believed in this kind of "perception"... sometimes I get lost trying to find rational links between the tornado of intuitions. But due to the number of such experiences, "coincidence" is just not an acceptable explanation to me.

Now I'll end my comment with another title of your posts : "We are not alone. Life 2.0" and encourage you all to re-read that post! ; )

Your Alien friend.
Mindblob.

PS : Gavin, I love your comment ! ; )

Thanks mindblob ... it was funny, because DA and I were emailing about this very subject today. There is a lot of action and energy in the tornadoes of our intuition.

"the tornadoes of our intuition."

Gavin, That pharase deserves to have a post written around it.

Mark is right, amazing "miracles" occur everyday in life on and off the Web and usually hide in obscurity under the pseudonym of "coincidence".

I like that it starts with "B.S." though.

"I like that it starts with "B.S." though."

I knew someone was going to say that.

Okay. I've got it. Now what do I do with it?

It's good that Seth has solved the chicken and egg thing for us all after millenia of conundrum cracking efforts.

Seth for President? Not on your Bobby De Niro 'I don't know what party that recorded voice message came from socks :)

For the record, David siphoned this post from me. I hadn't written it yet. But he knew I was going to. How low is that?

(More witty and inciteful comments here...but you all know what they say any-who...)

: )

David, you are right! Love this.

Keep creating...or sensing,
Mike

Mike!

Glad you checked it out. Now you know "it" has a name...

:)

When you reference yourself in conversation about a blog post you are about to write..but haven't yet - it's going to be your next post, honest!

Nice post DA..

Nice post. But I guess you knew I'd say that.
