Holiday Manifesto
Stay away from malls
Gather around a table
Re-discover family tradition
Re-live fond memories
Forget bad ones
Play with a toy
Play chess with a friend
Just play
Spike the Eggnog
Think of someone in need
Do something about it
Eat snow
Not the yellow kind
Wear silly hats
Get carried away
Unplug
Order in
Watch a classic
Send your cards out late
Get up early
Sleep in
Take naps
Make a wish
Have hope
Start your blog
Read a book
Write yours
Talk to a stranger
Listen
Laugh
Believe
Slow down
Don't make promises
Give something away
Receive with grace
Watch home movies
Make one
Share it
Take pictures
Share them too
Say goodbye to the past
Say hello to a new year
Smile if it feels right
Find a quiet place
Look out for mistletoe
Don't fake cheer
Be yourself

Damn you DArmano! Now you doing poetry too (and well)? That's my gig Mister! You're leaving me nothing to work with now...
Very well done.
Enjoy-
Friends
Not seen in years,
Family
Avoided all year,
Children
Engulfed in play,
Pets
Scared under the tree by the children with sticky, tape-covered fingers and sugar fueled frenzy in their eyes,
Each other
And a world
Momentarily full of hope and belief that change CAN happen and WILL happen,
Smiles
From strangers reaching for the same last damn sweater in red and extra large- the kind your brother asked for,
One too many glasses of cheap Champagne (or several glasses too many),
Love
From the people you know
Who love you
And new ones you didn't.
Just enjoy
(And pray it lasts beyond January 5th.)

Beauty and grace -- what a powerful combination.
"Compelling reason will never convince blinding emotion."
-- Richard Bach, Running from Safety
Thank you for staying in the emotion business.

David,
Beautiful children...beautiful words. You've made a manifesto into poetry!
Best wishes,

Thanks for the inspiration.
Don't know if anyone has read an WSJ op-ed on blogs:

I'll continue being a fool and imbecile. But, we all know who the real fool and imbecile is.

What a wonderful post! (...and I mean full of wonders!). I'm sure these simple words of wisdom will touch many of us.
Thank you David.
Best wishes to you and your family.

Thanks everyone. My plan was to leave this up for a few days without any new posts and then that Publicis news hit!
What a year! :)

You really nailed it with this one. I knew you were on the right track when you started with "stay away from malls."
Best wishes of the season to you and yours.
