Twitter disappeared today. So much for its e-commerce potential. Who knew in advance? Apple iPwnd the first iPhone customers. OK, theyve backtracked, but, jeez, what a miserable thing to do.
The downside of the bleeding edge is the... [Read More]

It came back to life a few hours ago and then stopped again. As they had some sync problems in the last couple of days I suspect this is not exactly a planned upgrade as they say, but let it be, Twitters... just bring us back our missing lifestream :)

John, LOL Twitter probably is work for some folks.
giL, I agree—bring us back our beloved lifestream! :)

First we had Skype shutting down for 48 hours leaving us with no VOIP, then Google Analytics left a 3 days hole in my traffic monitoring system and now I can't even twittwit with my friends before weekend comes. I am getting a bit worried of the new Internet we are all writing about...

I'm a frustrated, frankly. I usually just spew out what I'm thinking/doing there, and now I'm just keeping it in. Strange, I never thought of Twitter as cathartic, but in its absence, it kind of feels that way...

Face it fellas. We're hooked. Hey, this is almost like "poor man's twitter" :-)

I have 9 Pownce invites, you should check it out if you haven't, it's much more media focused, pics, video, audio etc. and it also pulls together other social media profiles.

Very interesting to see that other folks are also feeling the pinch because of twitter down time. I guess the true measure of a good tool/app/site is the impact it has once it is down. Not easily replaceable even with alternatives like Pownce and Jaiku.
All i know is i want it to come back soon.

Karl,
I'm on Pownce but haven't done much with it yet. Sean, good observation on "feeling the pinch". This is actually a good indicator that Twitter has a tangible value to it's users.

I was planning to spend the whole day Twittering. Instead, I'll just have to celebrate my wedding anniversary at the beach with my wife. (Maybe I'll do some reading later as well.)

You have all just suffered a Multicore Crisis (heh, heh):

Scaling these sites is tough, and it is going to get tougher over time.
Best,
