Quiting TV all together seems to be difficult (or costly via iTunes). Online communication--nay almost all communication-- implicitly relies on shared notions of culture. Not knowing what happened in Lost, SNL, or Seinfeld.
And watching TV online is just trading one set of commercials for another. Tivo will for the near future always make this experience better--even in a world of bit torrent downloads sans commercials.
