So re-tweeting has the balloon blank. So by re-tweeting you are not creating new content, but without the RT you lose the viral effect of social media.

where do we go after re-tweeting? Does everyone get all "Victorian" and start to blog again?
Good stuff. Dan

I think...who has content to share keep on blogging. (obviously I love Twitter, but it isn't enough for me)

does this mean we can do less and less and get away with it!

I usually try to comment and add value... here I can only stare and say:
"GREAT"
Sort of reminds me of:
"If necessity is the mother of invention, then ownership is the mother of innovation".
"There is an obvious correlation between the amount we sue, and how innovative we are as a society".
"Ultimately we will be so innovative that we will just spend all our time suing others."

Note to self, purchase retweet.com, write best-seller about retweeting for profit, retire early with no carpal tunnel.

David,
Brilliant as always. Even headline: 'brief' history of 'micro', absolute class writing.

Dave,
True but also not true. I think it is tricky.
I appreciate the sentiment and the visual. Very funny.
I am also wondering if education and learning are considered a Retweet?
I use Twitter Retweets as a learning tool to share content and ideas with students who would not hear of them otherwise.
Maybe some Retweets have a purpose that are not about taking credit for other peoples ideas, increasing followers, or trying to drive search engine traffic wild?
By the way, there should be a penalty for saying Retweets more than three times in a row.
Say it don't spray it.

Actually a RT is applying metadata to the original posting; it's not saying nothing, it's saying there a semantic link to this/that.
