No, thank YOU for being the one to take the step of helping the family. Let this be inspiration for all to think of others in need.

BAM! Community FTW! Tell Daniela to keep her chin up. :-) You're good people for putting yourself out there like this.

WOW! Logic+Emotion for sure! Way to go!
I chipped in a little to add to the pot ;-)

Absolutely incredible - not only have you helped a family in need, but you've proven again how powerful it is when just one person stands up to say "I will make a difference."
You have.
Imagine what else is possible.

Armano and Belinda,
Am hoping Daniela and her sweet family will be able to start anew quickly. My Mom (who is terminally ill) insisted on contributing along side me. Am hoping the "Chip In" went through. We did not use Paypal. =(
Am go proud of Twitter users...This is exactly why I love doing Community work. =)
God Bless your efforts...Heart!
God Bless Daniela and her family. Praying that she finds a good job, emotional healing, good people to walk along side her...Wholeness and happy children!

this is so awesome! i saw the first example of this with "tweetsgiving" and was inspired to create "tweetuplift" for xmas. if people are still trying to define what social media's all about, let this be proof that it's a community of real people with real hearts who want to help others in need. thanks, david, for giving so many people an opportunity to give.

You're an inspiration David. And thanks to everyone for helping us believe in community.

Good luck to Daniela. I hope this will make things a little easier going through what must be a tough time. A by-product of this effort is another case study lending credibility to the compassion and usefulness of online community.

Prayers for Daniela and her family, and to you for opening your home and heart to them, for bringing their story to our eyes, for being a shining example of the human side of social networking.

This is awesome, David... all I can say is, AMAZING. Amazing compassion, amazing community, amazing inspiration. Thank you for doing this.

David... Emotions too are floating over the ripples and did cross the ocean. Sending some +++ thoughts back your way. : )

That family simply looks to beautiful to be treated badly by the world. Don't ya just want to give them a big hug? :)
Thanks David.

That's what a community does. It's not all about what Blogging knowledge are you giving giving us. It's give and take as we all work together. Why is this successful, because a strong community maintains and nurtures the community - through good times and bad.
Thank You.

I posted for Daniela as well, but I have to say, your efforts are what spurred me on. Thank YOU for giving us a chance to help and make a real difference. For those who want to help someone else, please visit this post http://tinyurl.com/ax6rdo about a woman blogger who made less than $10 total income and is a single mom. She needs help too.
Posted by: Mel Edwards | Wednesday, January 07, 2009 at 07:05 AM
That was $10,000 total income. Sorry. Emotions running high after this video. Again, the post is here http://tinyurl.com/ax6rdo and thank you in advance for looking.

This is amazing to see. Thank you David, and thanks to everyone for stepping up to help Daniela. Like Mitch says above...this is what community does!

Thank you, David and Belinda! Glad to help a family in need. With all you've given, it's the least we could to help. All the best and a prosperous 2009 to you!

It's just me and my weird humor...
As I was looking at your piece again this am, I couldn't help thinking -- looking at your beard here and your clean-shaven image -- of Scott Calvin, and his beard problem when the Santa Clause took over :) Way to go SC!
I bet you even have a Wiener Whistle as part of your stash of props. Ah, but do you have Mystery Date as well? :)

David - what a wonderful "gift" you, your family, Daniela and her children have given to your "social family." If anyone doubts the kindness of strangers is not alive .. if anyone doubts that people want to make a different .. if anyone doubts that hope is still alive - they need only look to you and Daniela.
Posted by: Toby | Wednesday, January 07, 2009 at 09:17 AM
It's your kindness that inspired me to donate when I caught wind of this via rss. It's takes a selfless person to open their doors and take in a family in need. Good luck to Daniela and her family!

Your heartfelt video had me choking up, David. It's amazing how putting a face and a story to a request for help can move people to act immediately. It is easy to pass on a direct mail form request for contributions but impossible for many to turn away from a real person asking for their assistance.
The will to help is there, people just need to know how they can give, what the need is, and how much is needed and you provided answers to all three questions. By being direct, sincere & providing an easy way to give, you were the catalyst for this community response.
And the fact that you are opening your home to help Daniela and her children demonstrated not only your own willingness to give of yourselves but your initiative to do so, at least for the moment, unconditionally. It's a standard that a lot of us hope we could live up to if we were in your circumstance and you allowed us to participate in it, virtually. Thanks to you & your family and much luck to Daniela and her children in their new future. Mulţumesc şi îţi doresc numai succes!
Please keep us posted!
