Visual Thinking + Synthesis
email // twitter // linked in // flickr // facebook // delicious
I really enjoy talking complex subjects, processes or business problems and boiling them down to their core essence. This is becoming known as the process of "Visual Thinking". I use visual metaphors and storytelling to do this.
My styke of visual thinking is immediately recognizable and has helped me build a strong following of influential professionals who use my visuals in their own presentations and documents. A comprehensive archive of my visuals can be found on Flickr (please credit if you use them) and if you are interested in Visual Thinking as a discipline, you can visit VizThink for additional resources.

David,
I think teaching people using visuals, like these, is extremely effective. Visual learning, visual thinking, helps clear the mind. Instead of just writing it in plain text, you're stirring the imagination. I didn't take it into too much consideration until I started reading your blog. It's amazing how powerful this technique is.

Hey David,
it is really great, i am using visuals when we implement changes or new precesses at the organization.. it is really effective (it helps to explain why we change and what we will do, people usually take it very easy). Nice to read about that :)
Best wishes

Your OMG-WTF Spectrum is marvelous. Kudos! I'm a newbie to marketing (against my will, please note) and find your "core essences" are helping me get my footing.

So visually appealing and you're very generous to share so freely. I think they are invaluable as long as people understand that they capture certain aspects of reality/user experience but not the sum of it. Simplifying reality from its complexity to an image is useful to illustrate a point or elements of relationships but life is too messy to be easily reduced. So much of it lies outside the neat borders of an image.

Hi David, thank you very much for your blog…it’s great!...it has helped me get my tango videos seen all over the world !
A little bit about myself, I am a former businessman and entrepreneur from Austin, Texas who one day did a crazy thing and followed is dream by going to live in Florence, Italy even though I was broke, had never been there, did not know anyone and did not speak the language...I was 47 years old at the time....well it had been a 12 years full of unbelievable movie like experiences in a country full of MAGIC !
One of my dreams had always been to be a tango dancer and so I pursued that with a passion...I have now taught tango in several places in Europe and the US and have done performances in some beautiful theaters...bigger than my dreams !
And so my message to people is..
• Follow your dream...DO IT NOW !
• It is never too late...NEVER ! (like, life is too short, man!)
Come visit me in Rome Davis...your mother country is the most fascinating place in the world.., we'll share some good food and wine and I'll show you the most beautiful city in the world ! (and I can teach you to tango) Here is my latest video !
